Daytona Bike Week is the place to be to catch the first rounds of a variety of motorcycle racing events. One event not to be missed is the all-female Royal Enfield BTR (Build. Train. Race.) program, which held a flat track season-opening double-header on March 7-8.
Both races over the weekend held heated battles up front between Taia Little and Kenzie Luker. In Race 1, Little managed to cross the checkered line only 1.805 seconds ahead of Luker, with first-timer Mya Maffei rounding out the podium. Race 2 was even tighter, with Luker snagging the finish 0.275 second ahead of Little. Maffei again held 3rd, scoring two podium finishes over the weekend.
The BTR competitors will return for more flat track action on April 27 at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas. For more information about the races, program, schedule, and results, read the press release below.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 12, 2024) — The Royal Enfield Build. Train. Race. (BTR) Flat Track program held the first race of the 2024 season at the Daytona Short Track in Daytona Beach. With four days of training and practice followed by two days of racing, it was a riveting start to what is sure to be another exciting season of camaraderie and competition.
Taia Little and Kenzie Luker battled for first place on both race days. On day one, Little won after a tight competition, with Luker only 1.805 seconds behind. In the first race of her BTR career, Mya Maffei earned a third-place finish. On the second day of racing, Luker grabbed the win in a neck-and-neck race over Little by just 0.275 seconds. Maffei earned a second trip to the podium in as many races. Beyond the results on the scoreboard, it was a promising start for the entire field as they embark on the 2024 season.
“We have a mix of new and returning riders with different backgrounds and experiences, but what everyone in BTR shares is a passion for the motorcycles that they’ve built,” said Adrian Sellers, Head – Custom & Motorsport at Royal Enfield. “What makes Royal Enfield’s BTR program so special is the willingness of the riders to support one another through feedback and fierce competition. It’s going to be a great season and we’re looking forward to watching our racers grow.”
